Library at Isle of Wight Glass Museum
« on: January 12, 2017, 11:46:58 PM »
The museum has started a library of books on glass, which we hope to make available, on request, to collectors, scholars and indeed anyone interested in glass, in the near future.

The book list is here: http://www.isleofwightglassmuseum.org.uk/library

It is still early days. The first step is to produce a simple list of holdings, where we are now. The second step is to organize the listings, e.g. by country or by period, to make it easier to find a book. Where an online copy of a book is available we have provided a download link.

The book list is still fairly limited, but there are some interesting titles. Since museum funds are limited, and books often quite expensive, if anyone would like to donate to the library we would be most grateful.  :-*

Regards,

Anton

The library is making good progress, I am pleased to say.  :) We now have over 100 titles listed, with more to come, and have made a start at categorizing them:  books, serial publications, auction catalogues, product and sales catalogues, and miscellaneous publications.

I'll give another update in a couple of months.

The library now has over 200 titles and it is starting to become a useful reference resource. I have come across some great books for not a lot of money. The stand out ones for me this month were The Beauty Of Modern Glass by Ronald Stennett-Willson, signed by Ronnie himself, and Glass: An Artist's Medium by Lucartha Kohler, a goldmine for the practicing glass maker.
