Topic: Stevens & Williams 'Swirl' for show.

yes, I'm just wondering if that particular item in Truitt's might not be Harrach but might be Stevens and Williams.
That page shows two others that are similar but don't look quite the same as the one at the bottom ... which looks more like yours.

I see what you mean, the only difference I can see, apart from the enamel work, is the 'swirl lines' appear thinner than on mine, ah ha the plot thickens !

but the bottom one in the book looks different to the other two on that page doesn't it?
(There are two vases in there that I am sure are Stuart - at least two of the group of peacock vase I am sure of)

They do and those others do look like Stuart, all the fun of collecting !

So possibly a Stevens and Williams vase has crept into the book along with some Stuart Vases.

I have also seen a photo from the Passau that has a Stevens and Williams piece in the display.  It does happen.

I do muse sometimes and wonder if the Harrach depository had some other makers vases in it.
Mainly because some pieces that came from the Richardson bequest appeared to be by other makers iirc.
I think it is eminently feasible that they would have had competitor pieces to examine and 'reflect' on.

Makes you wonder if the V&A glass collection, and other museums, are all what they say they are ?

   I wouldn't have a clue but sure they are.
It's just occasionally something comes up and then I wonder.  And time moves on and things get identified that maybe weren't before.
I have noticed though on a couple of things at the V&A where previous attributions are listed and then an update has been given,leaving the previous atts in place - so it's kind of like a chronological identification showing previous history.  It's good.
