Bristol green raspberry prunted club decanters for show.
« on: March 06, 2017, 04:45:38 PM »
Great buy from Ebay last night local to where i live, similar carafe page 223 Andy Mcconnell The Decanter, although these could be confused as a carafe as there is no internal grinding on the stopper or inside of the neck and the stoppers and bottle have matching nunbers. The stoppers are a really tight fit with no wobble.

The base internally has a high dome and the pontil has been polished, both are in incredible condition.

9 1/2 inches in height and 4 inches across the base.

Any extra thoughts would be welcome.

that green is very attractive..........   not so sure that I understand McConnell's rather ambiguous speculation of dates of c. 1825 or c. 1880 for his carafe  - don't know if he amplifies on this in the text as haven't yet read the page.        very attractive.

Just as a matter of interest and I don't know if this is completely a red herring but scrolling through the Schreiber and Neffen catalogue I came upon a jug and lemonade glass type thing that have the same prunts on the body.

It comes up as 86/205 page on that link.  The book is 1900-1901.

There are many many many decanters in their many many many pattern books.
