not always possible to know exactly what is in another persons mind, but I can't imagine the word milled to be open to much personal interpretation.         Ivo is exceptionally good with the English language, so I think he was implying the sort of feature that is found on the edge of coins.
Regret this sort of glass not remotely my scene, so can't help, but the first thing that struck me about the round berries was that they reminded me of yew berries, and birds do eat such things I believe.

1880 would not surprise me m.?.stevens and williams would!

I was merely pointing out the similarities.  But then their designs were polished. Not matt. (as far as mine went and the ones I can see online)

In your first post you said you felt it was c.1850 or earlier? Is there something about it that makes you think that?

Having lived with it for a few days now it does seem a bit smart,maybe the metal itself a bit to clean?.I think it is a quality piece and probably made for the well healed so I'm just not sure? It's a piece I would like to be sure about for future reference if it is older.I'll hopefully come across something like it on the German sites.
