ID on 2 vases, one marked Austria
« on: April 13, 2017, 12:20:19 PM »
Hello to all !
I am hopeful that I can receive assistance to ID a couple of glass vases (thank you in advance for any replies!).

I realize that these are not high-end items, but would like to know more about age, manufacturer, etc.

The blue vase measures approx. 8.5 inches tall, with a bit more than a 2.5 inch base. The glass is not fully opaque, has lots of enclosed bubbles, and has a raised, hand-painted motif with a possible pontil mark on the base. Lip is unpolished and around 2.75 inches wide. No manufacturer marks of any kind

The green vase measures approx. 10 inches tall, with a bit more than a 3.5 inch base. The glass is not fully opaque, has lots of enclosed bubbles, and has a raised, hand-painted motif. Lip is unpolished and around 3.75 inches wide."Austria" stamp on base.

Thanks, and best regards!

Hello Flex,

I believe these are molded or mold-blown opaline glass vases.
Made after 1900. One made in Austria, the other one most likely to be European too.

There will be people here who can tell you for sure.
I'm not really that experienced yet.

Good luck!

Hello, antonizz!

Just based on the look and feel of the glass, and the style of the painted designs, I was also thinking it likely they were produced in the early 20th century.
The blue vase has an Art Nouveau ----> Art Deco look to it, at least to my newbie eyes.

Thanks a bunch for your response!
