BDG55:
I'm no expert either, but what gives me pause is this... there appears to be a significant amount of shelf wear (scratches) on the base ,but if you notice the scratches are beneath the circle and not through it.  If the mark was original to the piece, the scratches would also be on the stamp - which is virtually untouched.

Anne Tique:
The scratches look like they're inside the vase too, perhaps that's confuses but maybe Jay can confirm this and I think the second image has been modified a bit, to get a better image of the signature.

Re the originality of the signature, I can't see the point of adding a stamp or signature at a later stage  to a 50's piece, whether it is Schneider, Daum or any manufacturer of pieces in this freeform  style. They're decorative pieces but imho I don't think it adds any value at all.

Jay:
Yes, the third image was first but so unclear that I advised the 'chalk dust' trick, which has worked a little magic so it became the preferred image (no 2).

The dust does not catch evenly on different sorts of marks, and in this case not the same adhesion to the scratch marks and the etch mark.

If there are fake marks in circulation (for other factories) then they can usually be identified through the collector's network on GMB and elsewhere.
