HUGE Amethyst Glass Vase Signed F?
« on: May 21, 2017, 09:32:18 AM »
Hello,

I have attached some photographs of an extremely large amethyst vase.  It has what looks like an F to the base.

I'm hoping somebody might know if it is British or from overseas?

Many thanks.

I think the F is just a mark. h The fact that you say it's extremely large makes me think it might be very modern and possibly made somewhere like China

Thank you.

I had forgotten to put the dimensions, it is just over 17" high and the rim is 9 3/4" diameter.

Many thanks again for such a fast response.

Dartington Crystal made vases with this exact shape but I would expect "DARTINGTON" to be acid etched in small letters on the base - look around the edge. I have seen smaller examples but not one quite as large as this.

The vase in the photo is marked but comparing the photos there is a difference with the base.

Another difference is that the op's vase does not have the ribbing reaching to the upper neck and rim.
