Topic: Slice cut rummers or goblets - Victorian?

Outside my comfort zone with these glasses and wondering how to describe them as well as how old are they?

Snapped pontil marks with the odd seed in the metal, 6¼ inches tall, plenty of wear around the base. I had assumed Victorian but uncle google gave me conflicting ideas.

hi John  -  nice pieces  -  with that simple but substantial slice cutting they remind me of Thomas Webb's 'Royal Yacht' .........   have a look on the Replacements.com site.     I did wonder if they might be water goblets, but possibly not enough bowl, so maybe just wine goblets.

I have not seen Royal yacht or the Brierley version with rough pontils and look at the base wear they look mid Victorian to me similar to this one.

Thanks for taking a look Paul, very similar pattern but there are a couple of significant differences, these glasses are too tall and the Thomas Webb pattern looks to have fewer slices. Webb's Royal Yacht was introduced in 1901 (according to one online source) and I suspect these glasses could be older than that.

Interesting Chris, is your glass a similar size?

No john it's 4 3/4 inches but i have a lot of Victorian goblets and wine glasses 6-9 inches tall, i'm not hijacking your thread with putting picks of my glasses on unless you want to.
