oh no, you can wear a red and purple at any age you like.
Whichever age you choose to consider to be "old" is arbitrary; old is just a matter of opinion.
I've always worn red and purple together. I'm just going to be much more blatant about it.
My new (second-hand) red hat is a big one. It's useful. Michael can find me after he's wandered off and left me behind.   

Keith, the whole point is that nothing suits.
"Warning" is the poem I'm referring to, if some folk don't know it.
(and it does make me feel old to think that some folk don't know it yet.  )
