RAY:
trying to find out when Stuart glass started, i know they used 3 different mark's but i can not find the date's for these , i picked up 2 nice airtwist stem wine glasses with wheel engraved cock fighting scene, on the foot of the glasses is the acid mark "Stuart" with the wiggly bit under the last letter t , anyone have any idea of the date?

thanks Ray

Ray:

Dodsworth from 1926, Jackson from 1927.   Christine Golledge, Stuart's Archivist, in Dodsworth, notes enamelled cockfighting scenes in the 1929 pattern book.

Nice find, Ray.

RAY:
well got to admit it was the wife that noticed them 1st, we went to a antiques fair on boxing day , just as we were about to go the wife can over and said , I've spotted two airtwist  wine glasses for a £1 each with birds on them i thought must be Bohemia so i went to look and they were scenes of cock's fighting so i got them, only when i got home i noticed the Stuart on the base, i can not understand why these did not sell 1st off, anything to do with cock fighting sells very well, i will try and post some photos

£1.00 EACH !*!*!

That's got to be the record bargain for 2004.
