Signed Cased Blue & Clear Vase, Alsterfors? ID = Orrefors
« on: February 23, 2018, 05:26:21 PM »
Would anyone please suggest an ID for this 18.5cm tall blue and clear cased vase (are you allowed to use the term 'Sommerso' if it's not from Italy?)? It has a signature on the base - largely obscured by wear, unfortunately - the last four letters of the longest word is 'fors'. I don't know of any name other than Alsterfors, although the two letters previous to the four may be 'ng'. There's also an unreadable date.

Orrefors is the maker you are looking for.  I tend not to use the term sommerso unless there are two colours.

Thanks very much John, don't know why I thought of the less well known Alsterfors and forgot Orrefors. An ageing brain I suspect...

The number won't be a date but a pattern number, I think the designer could be Nils Landberg so NL or N followed by a number would make sense. Nice to find one in blue, I used to have a few but they were all smoke/grey.
