Modern Ovoid Weight for ID please. ID - Dartington
« on: February 27, 2018, 07:23:57 PM »
It has a stylized "D" stamped on the base, sorry couldn't get it to show in a photo. I'm thinking Dartington? Please does anyone know the maker or designer or timeline?

Pretty sure you are correct with Dartington. Googling threw up this vase: https://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/art-studio-glass-vase-dartington-288307271

No photo showing the etched mark sadly but there is some info that might be verifiable. The other day while looking for this pattern I found a couple of vases with Dartington labels on.

When looks like 1990s or later.

John

Is the D the same as this one?

Many thanks John, looks to be the Kyoto Studio Collection. That next one is not the "D" on my weight. Mine is a broken "D" in the style of the Swarovski block logo with that same acid etch look.

Is it etched or stamped?

I think etched, it has that matt fuzzy shallow finish, but it is very neat, more like you might expect on a stamp than a signature.
