Topic: Unusual Blue Marble Glass Vase

A very unusual blue marble / slag glass vase. The vase has a white cased interior, a molded pattern and what appears to be a polished pontil to base.

The vase is one of a pair and I would date it as Victorian.

Height 7" and weighs 650gm.
I bought them more out of interest as the only other item that I had seen similar was a small bottle which I still have somewhere.

Hi Roy    ...................   are you dating your vase on the basis that the bottle can be dated with certainty to the Victorian period?              Coming back to Keith's blue and white marbled vase from yesterday - that one may well be Victorian, but equally might be second half C20 from the States, and it may well be that your blue and white vase has come from the same period and also from the States - not saying it is, but those guys look to have made vast amounts of coloured marbled glass over the past 70 years.

Assume you're suggesting this one is mould blown, not press moulded  -  are there any examples of slag/marble glass which we know to have been finished on the rod - with subsequent grinding/polishing and leaving a pontil depression - and which can be dated for sure as Victorian?
