Ernest Gordon / Afors vase with unusual numbering...

(1/2) > >>

Pinkspoons:
Took a while to track down the designer/manufacturer of this vase because of the unfamiliar numbering to the base. Turns out it's model # GS 1121 by Ernest Gordon for Afors, one of a series of vases with doughnut-type depressions engraved with fantastically demented sun faces.

Does the numbering mean anything to anyone? Nothing corresponds with the model number, or anything else I've seen of signed Afors glass.

SveziaJonas:

Sometimes people in Sweden engreaved their birthnumber, in Sweden we Have after year month day a four digit number

taylog1:
First some pictures for you !

Secondly, I have the other two, and my Ernest Gordon collection is nearing completion, so if you want to sell it please drop me an email.

Thirdly, I have seen a few with birthdates engraved, but usually also the piece code.

another possibility might be a museums reference code, but id be disappointed if they were engraving the exhibits !

Gareth

I have nothing to add but greetings to Nic and Gareth  ;D
And a hello to Jonas who I haven't met yet. :)
And a lot of drool over my keyboard. I've been watching this but staying quiet.
It got too much. ;D

Pinkspoons:
Thanks Jonas, Gareth - I don't think I've ever run into birthdates on Swedish glass before, so I've learned something new.

They're definitely a fun series of vases, though. Will drop you an email shortly, Gareth.

Hi Sue!  ;D
