A blue-green marbled press-moulded glass bowl with stylised foxes (or possibly dogs with very bushy tails) as handles. The bowl interior has a clear Henry Greener 1st lion trademark (dating the bowl to between 1875 and 1885). Approximately 3 inches high with a rim diameter excluding the handles) of about 4.5 inches. (Permission for the re-use of these images on the GM granted by eBay user reflections-retro).
This piece is from an unregistered design and I assume that it was most likely used as a sugar bowl, so does anyone have photos of matching pieces (perhaps a creamer or a butter dish) to show, please, or even the bowl in a different colour?
This is very much in the style of Davidson's unregistered dog-handled pattern no. 26 sugar bowl and creamer (dating from between 1880 and 1890) and Sowerby's monkey-handled pattern no. 1125 covered sugar bowl, butter dish and creamer (registered in the RD bundle 298870-876 on 6 March 1876 - Parcel 3) and I will add photos of these in the next post for comparison.
In all these cases, the quality of the moulds is quite extraordinary.
Fred.
