Help ID Family Heirloom
« on: July 27, 2018, 09:34:09 AM »
Hello everyone! I’d very much appreciate some help identifying an old heirloom that was recently passed to me. A note from my grandfather stated, “This piece was saved from the union soldiers by hiding in a well during the civil war.” I searched it for any identifying marks and could not find one. Also not sure what it’s original purpose was. It is a small piece measuring only about 6x3 inches. Any assistance would be very helpful! -Colin-

Hi Colin and welcome to the board. At that size it could have been a soapdish or part of a table set or even part of a trinket set.  I can't tell from your photos if it is a cut piece or a pressed piece though, as they are a little on the small side to see the detail well.  Ideally images need to be around 700 pixels along the longer edge so we can see them clearly.
Cheers! Anne, da tekniqual wizzerd

Thank you Anne, sorry I have been having difficulty editing the file size to fit into the forum. These pictures are around 100KB and approaching the limits of what I can post.
