Topic: Heavy Swirl Vase ID

I sold this vase a few years ago and have always regreted it. I always thought that it may have been Murano, but have never been quite sure. I would say that it was 1960''s going on the amount of wear and it had a highly polished base, so not your average Chinese. It stood at 8.5" inches tall and was very heavy at 2.6kg...any ideas?

Seen a few of them over the years, made in China. Wear can build up quickly with such a heavy item, I don't think they were made that recently but no idea if they are ten, twenty or thirty years old.

  I know you do see loads more than I do, John, but I thought the highly polished base would be inconsistent with even 10-15 year old Chinese work.
A highly polished base from  ~ 10 years ago might indicate a slightly superior maker at that time?
or am I just clutching at straws?
Just occassionally, I do see a really quite wonderful bit of modern Chinese glass amongst the rest, I assume because the individual who made it really did have talent as well as some skill.
Admittedly, looking at this vase for the very first time, the bright colours have me veering to China, but then the quality of the execution of the twists made me think about old marbles and that it merited further study.

The extra photos do show a very yellow colour in the clear casing. It's not a particularly wonderful colour, and it supports John's statement.
I still really like it.

Yes, I think you may be right, still regret parting with it though, don't think I'll find another one for 99p!
