Orreffors/Sandvik. Simon Gate. For show 1
« on: November 10, 2018, 08:53:55 PM »
Have been collecting glass for a good many years now with a particular interest in Scandinavian glass.
Up until three weeks ago I had not owned an item of Sandvik glass. Now I own two. One came from a charity shop and one from an antique centre about 40 miles apart.
I dont know much about Simon Gates design thinking at the time but they sure look like venitian glass items to me.
The first bowl is GS557 Vingaskalen(the wing bowl). The height and the width is 240mm. It is in the Orrefors/Sandvik catalogue of 1952 but it says the catalogue
contains designs from 1917 until 1951/52.

Lovely piece of glass. The design also shows up in a 1926 Sandvik catalogue.

:) Thanks for showing this, Tim.
It would be just perfect for my pistachios. It is a really lovely thing.

Thanks for the 1926 catalogue info pinkspoons. was it from the kerstinfroberg catalogue downloads or from your own reference material?.
Sue, thanks for the nice words, I'm with you on the pistachios.
Thanks again,
Tim
