Codds patent 14 John Kilner R Clarke bottle
« on: November 26, 2018, 07:19:59 PM »
So today at work we were digging some steps into a very muddy hillside and I came across this bottle. One side says "Codds patent 14 London john Kilner maker Wakefield Clarkes gomlim" and the other says "contents of this manufactured by r Clarke scarboro registered" the bottom has an R inside a C on it. I've done a little research and I believe that it would once have contained some sort of carbonated drink but I can't seem to find any reference to the company, what they produced and in what time period, any information would be greatfuly received!

It was found only a path a few miles north of Scarborough.

The bottle digging forum will probably be the best place to get help with the bottle, photos would also aid in identification

Hi Beth and welcome to the board. As you are in Yorkshire might I suggest talking to the National Bottle Museum at Elsecar who may be able to tell you more. http://www.coddswallop.org/
