Swedish art glass?
« on: December 27, 2018, 03:20:55 PM »
Hi,
This very large and heavy vase was part of a job lot I bought recently in a local auction. It was described as Swedish art glass and weighs just over 6kg. It has a very faint green colour swirl through the middle that glows under UV light (uranium?). Please see attached photos. Any ideas where it comes from? Many thanks in advance.
Petra

I don't recognise it as Swedish, have not seen any alike it.
Maybe Danish, In Denmark you have Holmegaard, maybe you can find anything there.
Try Cigar Ashtray Holmegaard. Holmegaard beak vase

I'd be thinking China, given how much they've improved recently, or failing that, Beranek.

(But my guts assume Beranek every time they see a spiral of colour inside something. :-[ )

I rather suspect the green "glow" comes from a manganese decolourant used in the batch.

Can we have more photos (including a base) against a plain white background with minimal reflections please. It's impossible to see what you have

Thank you all, interesting, I'll supply some more photos tomorrow, including the base.. 😉
It is completely unmarked and I don't the vase is very old judging from only minimal wear at the base despite it's enormous weight.

It's definitely not Holmegaard, sorry.
