Double spout forato vase - Help ID
« on: January 12, 2023, 10:48:46 PM »
Hi all,

here is a 35cm tall (almost 14 inch) double spout vase in forato style. It has 3 holes (difficult to show the three of them at the same time in one pic due to their placement). The glass has some bubbles although not that many, as well as an irregular pattern consisting of white stains (latticino?). It also has a pointil mark.

It is reminiscent of some works by Anzolo Fuga for A.v.e.m.
Would be so grateful if anyone had any ideas about this piece.

Thanks,

Best, J.

I don't think this is Italian. It has a few features in common with some of the vast works of Adam Jablonski, who was Polish.
He made pieces with holes in;

and with your kind of double spout/handles

I am not so sure about the colours and textures in the glass though.
I do not think your vase is quite well made enough or finished off as well as Murano would be.  :)

Thank you Sue,
funnily enough I own an Adam Jablonski piece although quite different to this one since it's just some kind of large paperweight.
I will look further into his work. Thanks for the hint.
Cheers, J.

Is that mica I can see rather than air bubbles?

John

Hi John,

there are certainly air bubbles, especially towards the top of the vase, but I think you are right about the mica, I just thought it was white glass or latticino since I'm quite new to glass and mica did not even cross my mind...
Thank you for the insight !
