New strange bit of nice boffo mdina?
mdina glass:
Hi members,
I recently bought this to add to my growing collection of mdina glass as it is the first one I have seen with a pinched beak and with a handle.
There is plenty of silver chloride and nitrate in the piece but hard to see under the light and it does have the polished pontil to the base so would like to know if this could be a boffo trial piece?
it does resemble some whitfriars jugs in the beak and handle so just wondered if this could be the work while at mdina.
Thank you in advance for any replies.
regards kev.

I would say very likely, there have been a few pieces over the years that have come to light which look to be based on Whitefriars shapes that must have been made at Mdina.
Found this one in Malvern some years ago and it belongs to Sue now.

It looks more like a normal carafe shape turned into a jug. I don't think whitefriars have a "design original" for an ordinary carafe shape.
I'd agree Boffo, simply because it is a jug. And for the way the colours are worked on the surface. :)

Thank you John and Sue for your replies it is much appreciated,
So I now have another stunning piece of mdina in my collection, onwards and upwards to seek out some more over the weekend.
PS love the early mdina piece sue it is something else and I can see the shape in some white friars pieces,if you ever need to find another good home for it lol look me up.
Regards Kev.
