Mystery Vase
« on: June 22, 2019, 12:35:39 PM »
I found this 10 sided vase last year at a flea market.

It is 175mm tall (6.9 inches) and 62mm (2.44 inches) diameter.

It is ouraline (uranium glass) and fluoresces well in UV light.

The mistletoe design is only on one side.

The glass is much thicker on one side.

The silver mistletoe decoration is painted onto a raised moulded pattern in the glass.

On the base is what looks like a cursive 2.

I have found a pair for sale on a well known auction site, I contacted the seller, he is adamant they are not ouraline (uranium glass).

They look exactly the same, perhaps they were a cheaper version? he does not know the maker and neither do I.

Any ideas, must have been made in a mould?

Looking at the rim.....is the piece ribbed optic.....can you feel ribbing on the inside of the vase?

There a vertical grooves formed by the ten edges, running from the top to the bottom.

I have no idea what ribbed optic means, but just looked at some online and it has no lines going around the radius.
