A question about Davidson set number 340.
« on: July 14, 2019, 05:46:30 AM »
Under "Known Colours".  Except Amber, all other known colours/examples are shown as frosted.

Is that a misprint?  I have a part set in clear blue, a small lidded pot and candle holders.  Also, while checking prices on ebay, I came across a mixed set in clear green with what look very much 340 candle holders.

Not a misprint, jut the colours we've seen it in so far. Once new images are added I update the colours list to reflect the new known colours. If you have pieces in colours I don't have I'd appreciate photos to add to the site please. :)

Sorry to doubt you.  I thought that having found blue and green in clear glass (and now what appears to be a clear pink example) they would be better known and already on the sets page.

I've attached a photo of my blue pieces for you to add.

I'm sorry I can't do a link to the green set I mentioned, the item number is 254289950779 - "Davidson Art Deco Green Glass Vanity Trinket Candlesticks Dish Tray Set #283 340".  You may also be interested that in the listing the seller mentions that they also have a "rare" green frosted 283 set listed.

No apology needed, it was a fair question and is something I've not made clear on the site so I'll add it to the overview page next. Also thank you for the above photo, I do like this blue, it's quite striking isn't it?

Incidentally, the green set on eBay is a marriage, as the candlesticks and pintray are Davidson 340 but the tray is Davidson 283/4 pattern, and the pot is Davidson Jacobean pattern.

Happy to be able to add another piece to the website.

I'm sure you'll be relieved to know that a friend, down for the weekend, has explained what I was doing wrong and why my attempts at resizing always blurred the photos.  They have shown me how to get better results and in a fraction of the time. :)

"A marriage", I didn't know that was what a mix-and-match set was called, something I've learnt today.

Glad your friend was able to help, it's often something simple but not obvious which makes a difference. :)  I've added the blue set to the GTS 340 page and an explanation about Known Colours in the preliminary blurb on the site too.  Thanks for your feedback, it all helps make the site more useful for everyone.
