Paperweights with broken pontils
« on: August 02, 2019, 06:35:12 PM »
Good evening forum.
I wonder if someone would be kind enough to enlighten me on who possibly made paperweights that have broken or snapped off pontils on the base. I have acquired 3, all good quality. The base of each is indented with the centre having a snapped off pontil...ie, not polished or finished off. I feel that they may have originated on the Isle of Wight as the original owner used to holiday there quite a lot and also has a collection of Alum Bay glass. Were there any makers who made paperweights in the say, 70s or 80's who left the base of the weights lie this? Thank you for any imput or help.

Hello,
I should have realised that.
I've uploaded 2 pics. The first is the 3 weights but I've had to cut them down and the 2nd shows the base. The base is the same on all 3 weights...indented with the snapped off pontil. Thank you.
