Topic: glass vase that has features that almost look like wood

I bought this heavy vase in Italy today and am wondering if anybody here has seen this type of design before?

30 cm tall and 16 wide

almost 4 kg

I was hoping there might be a signature hiding somewhere but found nothing

are signatures always on the base of a piece of glass?

It looks awfully like contemporary Chinese glass to me.
Signatures are not always on the base, no. American artists often sign around the base, but on the body.
