Mdina goblet with spout or funny rim
Ben.unwin:
Recently bought this goblet and its rather unusual compared to the normal versions.
It has a sort of pouring rim, would this have been intended or perhaps creating a beak to avoid it being scrapped altogether?
The base is unsigned and it seems to be rather yellowish.
Anyone know when this dates from or if it is rare?
Any help appreciated! ;D

chopin-liszt:
The yellowish tinge to the glass is perfectly normal for earlier Mdina - they used old milk bottles as cullet.
I'm not really sure what is going on with your goblet. ;D
An "experimental" jug from the Boffos? One that didn't work terribly well and was not repeated?
I don't think you're looking so much at a "rarity" as "just something that got tried".
Ben.unwin:
I was thinking the early part of the 70s?
Thanks for the info, I put pictures up on facebook earlier and people were trying to buy it off me!
Rarity unfortunately doesn't mean value in this case! :'(

Sue, I saw this thread on the board with a Michael Harris goblet, and the colouring on the bowl seemed very similar to Ben's. Could it possibly be by MH? Please be gentle......I'm still learning 🤓
