Very unusual vase looking for an ID
Laura Friedman:
Hi group,
I am trying to identify this unusual vase. It stands just under 10" tall. The vase is actually a 'murrina,' with each opaque orange murrine embedded in a clear window, which has been rolled to make this "patchwork" vase. It is heavily iridized, and the orange stripes are on the exterior (as are the murrines). The orange murrines and stripes are not iridized. It has a nicely polished pontil and base wear. It also has some ash in the glass.
Any opinions are welcome, especially correct ones.

Catisfaction:
Hi Laura :) I never realised you were in CA.
Don't know anything about your vase, but it's a beauty!
Max:
I wonder if that murrine design is an ideogram? It seems perhaps too deliberate to be purely abstract?
Laura Friedman:
No one? Come on people!
Anne:
The shape of the murrines reminds me of Japanese writing characters but I don't suppose that is helpful really. :?
