Hi everyone,

I recently purchased this unusual Murano Glass Horse Head Sculpture, mainly because I haven't seen another like it.

Made of deep orange / red opaque glass with fragmented very fine gold leaf.

Bulbous applied eyes in the same colour.

Some tooling marks to the body.

The polished underside is simply marked 'Murano' but interestingly the polished base has ring marks as if it were made up of at least 3 gathers of red / orange opaque glass. There is no clear glass on this piece.

I have been unable to find another or any other Murano animal like this so please can anybody help?

Stands 5 1/2 inches tall.

Many thanks

J x :)

Not my area, but Zanetti is known for horsey sculptures of this sort of (amazing  ;D ) quality.

Jazzy64:
Hi,

Sorry for the late reply.

I have seen and owned Zanetti pieces in the past. They are normally quite chunky whereas this piece is more flowing and dare I say it is better made.

The search for the maker goes on :-)

Thank you
