My parents got this as a wedding present in 1953 in Finland. I think this would be from Murano (because of the complicated way it is made) but also just because I cannot think of anything else.

Only now for the first time I realized there may be a signature but cannot read it - probably on two separate lines and both just look like zigzag...
It is abt 12cm high and 10cm in diameter.
I would really appreciate knowing anything about this, do you know anything similar?

:) Could you try rubbing a little talcum powder (or cinnamon or cocoa powder) over the marks with your thumb, to help them be seen?

Thanks for the comment! I already tried... it is so vague it doesn't help.  :'( I took a video changing the angle a little to show the reflections, but unfortunately I cannot add it in this forum.

I understand your frustration.  ::)  :( ;)
I really, really do! I want to see it, I want to try turning it around too! ;D

The pattern on it reminds me of Bridget Riley's work, which was all the rage in the '70s. (in the uk)

The style of the mark over two lines reminds me of the 'Venini Murano' acid stamp mark. I can't tell from the pics if this mark is engraved or an acid stamp though.

Oh, yes, there's a match!!! That is why it looks like zig-zag !  :D Thank you!
Like I said, even the finest powder doesn't hang on, so I go with the acid stamp mark.
I would love to find something similar from them. I'll keep oon googling.

Paolo Venini, early 1950s. A very glamorous piece of glass, quite special too.

This pattern made with murrine was produced in different colours and on various shapes, a tall vase and a bowl in green are shown on pages 146 & 7 of Italian Glass by Helmut Ricke & Eva Schmitt.

An example like yours also in green: https://auction.catawiki.com/kavels/25911717-paolo-venini-c-venini-a-murrine-serie-dama-vase-glass

O M G.  :o

At this moment I am glad the piece has been moved to a safe unknown place.  ;D

And I just love this site. Thank you everyone.
I personally constantly and willingly help people wanting to know about their glass pieces in my country,
a couple of times I have been able to contribute in this site.
Sometimes one needs information from around the world. Just great.

The stuff that glass dreams are made of......love it!  And love the GMB for making it possible to share in these moments 👏
