Glass vase id help!
« on: January 03, 2020, 04:51:44 AM »
This vase is 9" tall and 5" in diameter at the widest point. Folks who know more than I do are divided on whether it is Czech or Japanese. The bottom is slightly concave and ground around the periphery. Opinions welcomed!
Glass mutt. I collect anything I like & find interesting & is of reasonable quality.

I would lean towards Japanese (someone like Sanyu perhaps) for the unusual colouring, Czech glass tends to use colour in a less random way if that makes sense, but yeah it could be either.
Sorry not very helpful, but it's a reply!

Thanks for your comment. Sanyu/Narumi was my first guess, but a very knowledgeable collector of Japanese glass does not agree. They think it is Czech while a very knowledgeable collector of Czech glass thinks it is Japanese! Other knowledgeable collectors of each type glass support both or opposite opinions. Sigh!

My first guess would be Japan too, for what it is worth...
