Sorry to sound thick, but is it possible to have both a scar and polished pontil, at the same time? - sounds most improbable, and I think the answer is that I've misunderstood your explanation, so grateful if you will please re-write that part of the description for me. thanks:)
I could be wrong, but had understood feet became flatter c. 1780, and of course at the same time the scar started to be ground smooth and we begin to see the polished depression in its place.
How does the foot appear - is it thin, is the edge smooth and sharp, or thick and slightly irregular. Apart from agreeing that the bowl size might suggest a cordial possibly, regret I'm now wiser on any other suggestions - sorry. Let's hope someone else might have more positive thoughts for you.
