Is this Krosno glass?
« on: February 09, 2020, 03:47:25 PM »
Hi, I also have an etched piece of krosno, I was told that it was from the 70s/80s. Its certainly not as delicate as most of my krosno! It's quite large and amber in colour, very heavy!

Hi Elaine, welcome to the board. Could you post photos of your piece as a new topic please and we can look and try and confirm if it's Krosno or not for you? Many thanks.

Apologies.. I know that you said about a new topic, but couldn't work out how to do that on my phone! I have had enough trauma attempting to resize the images!

Hi Elaine, your images are too small. You don't need to make them thumbnail size, the board does that automatically for you. Your images need to be around 700 pixels on the longest edge and then save for web. We have a help topic about posting images here https://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,34093.0.html, but if you get stuck you can email me your images and I'll resize them for you.

To start a new topic you go the index panel of the Glass forum and click the blue button top right that says New Topic.  I'll split your posts from here and my replies out of this one and move them to Glass for you.

Krosno etched glass?
« Reply #5 on: February 13, 2020, 07:18:32 PM »
I purchased this a few weeks ago. Interesting as none of my other Krosno is etched.

It's rather lovely. I've admired Krosno for some time, this does look like the sort of substantial and more interesting pieces produced before LSA took over marketting.
It looks as if it is a jug or pitcher. The sort you do display.  :)

Thank you! I've just found another etched one.. I had to buy it.. it's a different colour but has a similar pinched effect.

Hi Elaine, you've managed to upload the bigger images beautifully, well done.  The mark used on your glass was registered as a trademark by Krosno Glass  S.A. around 2003 which gives you the earliest date this piece could be.

There are a number of glassworks in the town of Krosno, for example Józefina (started 1980), Makora (started 1991), and Glass Studio Habrat (started 1997) are others you might see, along with the maker of your piece Krosno Glass S.A. (started 1923).

I can't find your item in the few Krosno catalogues I have copies of, but I've no doubt it's a genuine piece of Krosno.
