small glass vase
« on: March 04, 2020, 10:43:26 AM »
I recently bought this small glass vase; the glass is rather thin and it measures about 15 cm in height.
I am just curious about it age and where it was made.

Hi John  -  unmarked and undistinguished glass is always a problem when it comes to age and provenance  -  you may struggle with this one, certainly as to maker - it might have originated in any one of several European countries.
On face value, the snail pattern feet would suggest c. 1880, but that's where my suggestions end, I think.         I can't see from your pix whether there is a polished out pontil depression, or not.
Fingers crossed others may have something more useful to add. :)

Well thank you very much; this is more information than i was expecting; but that may be because i have almost no knowledge what so ever when it comes to glass. There is indeed a hollowed out pontil- see picture here-;
The age is also surprising me - it is antique...)) I bought it in a second hand store this week for 1,25 euro.

Agree with Paul.....very hard to pin down a maker.  The oil lamp shape suggests late Victorian to me.
