Wonderful suggestion, Michael. I've searched images and I agree there are a lot of similarities.
There can't have been too many makers capable of this sort of quality.  :)

I too have done some research and I believe you are absolutely right, I found a vase with the identical design to the interior around the rim.

I suggest you have a look at the work of Ernest Baptiste Leveille I think it might give you your answer. The L12 mark would I assume back this up.
