After some determined googling today I think this is a statue of Sappho. It could be a generic Sappho or off a known sculpture. The closest I could find is by Pradier 1852, which is in a Paris museum. There is a similar one in Rome by Giovanni Dupre, dated late 1850s, and a later one from the 1890s in the Met in New York.

I think your right Neil, seated statue of Sappho with a harp by its side, Sappho a Greek poet, had a bit of a revival in the Victorian era, she has a small harp by her side, there are lots of different statues in different positions but some  white ones that look very similar to this. Still not sure who made it? Thanks  Mike
