Hi all, it’s been a while since I posted here, I hope everyone is doing ok!

I have some new information about the so called “George Hardy” import labels mentioned in several threads here.

It turns out, they are not for George Hardy at all, but another importer named “Hans Geismar”.

Please see attached scan of an envelope printed with the company name, address, and logo, which matches the labels perfectly.

Full details here.

Thanks Wayne. I have added a "Mod:" comment within all threads I have found through the GMB Search facility mentioning "George Hardy".

Thanks Kevin! There is also 3 of these labels on page 3 of the "Murano 101 Labels" gallery.

Thanks Wayne, much appreciated. Just goes to show even the most 'secure' bits of knowledge can sometimes be upended!

Any clues as to the design within the labels? At first I saw an 'eye in the sky' image but then it morphed into a chandelier come light fitting type thing. Obviously spending far too much time in isolation for it to be entirely healthy....

John

Hehe, I asked Ken if he knew, he said not sure, but his best guess would be something to do with the free masons. A google image search for "free mason eye" comes up with similar images.

The imagery seems a little less developed on the Lido label, could this be a bit earlier in date than the others?

That's fantastic information and thank you for sharing.

I did a little search but irritatingly only incomplete snippets of information come up. However according to a small snippet of Pottery and Glass 1962  it's might be possible that another Director of the company may have been a Mr M. R. Wilkins?
It mentions imports from Sweden,Italy, Germany,France and Yugoslavia etc.  (Yugoslavia particularly interesting and I wonder who the makers from there were)
https://books.google.co.uk/books?id=CDh5zK5skFsC&dq=H+geismar+kimberley+house+holborn+viaduct&focus=searchwithinvolume&q=wilkins

Ancestry has snippets (I cannot access) which appear to show Liesel's middle name as Sara, and that there may have been other relatives - Isak J , Paula L, Johanna J  if this helps in future information.

It looks like Kimberley House was up for redevelopment in 1976/1977 so that may have been a cause for the company to move premises?
