Help with Czech glass signature / studio on Contemporary Stemware
« on: September 20, 2020, 01:26:34 PM »
I picked up two pairs of these Modern glass stems in different sizes (goblet / cocktail).  They retain a "SKLENICKA" paper label and the engraved siggie "Design J.  ???"  Any help on the siggie would be very much appreciated.

 :o :o :o
Jiri Suhajek. Lucky, lucky you! ;D
Although I suspect it is his design rather than made by him directly. Worth finding out.

There's an image of his signature on an early goblet Greg posted, here.

I have a jug by him.

I wonder if these came from the B.A.G. Vsetin (Check Sp?) partnership?

Yes they did - see link here for more information :)

 ;D
I've just remembered - I have a goblet I'd always thought was by Annette Meech at the RCA, but was talking with Mark Hill about it recently and he thinks it's by Jiri Suhajek. RCA.
I have found pics I can post and have just edited to do so.

RCA.  ;D Not marked. I've had it a long time and always loved it, especially the wonkiness.
I thought it might be Mdina when I bought it. It was that long ago.
Mark and I agree it's RCA. He knows  a lot more about Jiri Suhajek and what was going on there in the early days than I do - especially with just having written the section of the book on Sam Herman and spending time with him. jammy... gentleman.  ;)
