Stuart huge vase identify pattern designer ?
« on: October 17, 2020, 05:23:18 PM »
Can anyone please identify the pattern or designer of this huge Stuart vase . Measures 27cm tall by 17cm wide and weighs over 3.5kg . The signature dates from 1920’s to 50’s . Could it be an exhibition piece ? Or a one off . Very deep cut

I believe that I put an answer on a Facebook page about this piece (which I'd love to look after!).

My thoughts are that it could well be like the fish vase which was produced both pre, and post war, and uses the same blank, that was a special order piece.

Your ideas could be just as likely though, particularly since I never seen this cut before - lucky chap :) :)

That vase is wonderful!  As Nigel says, it does look like the same blank as the fish vase (which I also lust after!) It's not shown in the 1964 Stuart catalogue on GlassGallery (but the fish vase is).
Cheers! Anne, da tekniqual wizzerd

Thank you Anne regarding the bowl yes I would definitely say it was from around 1930’s . Tons of wear on the base and took me ages to find a partial stamp but just the rt but can’t see the loop and below an e obscured by wear . The top is smooth but underneath it is incredibly deep cut leaves pattern . Weighs a ton over 6KG . And absolutely immaculate like the vase . I don’t collect Stuart but have been collecting and buying and selling glass for over 40 years but never come across really massive exciting Stuart pieces as these. I got three together and will post the other vase soon which I am sure is deco also
