I hope someone would comment on any idea about this very heavy oval bowl. The weight is more than 5kg. (the kitchen scale gave an ERR)
The upper part is with golden small particles, base part is about controlled bubbles.
There is a dark red color in between.
Size about 43,5 x 27cm. Height 7-9cm.

That is unusually large, perhaps from Murano but don't remember seeing another. A vague Seguso - only because all the techniques used would fit. A more detailed photo of the gold would be interesting, to see if we can distinguish between gold leaf and gold powder (polveri).

Thank you John, for your feedback!
I am adding pictures. IMO if there are flakes they are not very large.

Caveat this by saying I know nothing about Murano glass but the gold foil reminded me of some Barbini bowls and I found this for comparison:

No idea if this is right at all, but might be a route to explore.

I think this is a better picture of that bowl and it's not the same techniques I don't think.  Sorry.

I have some plates with the same sort of gold swirl pattern listed in the Murano section which I think are made by Salviati, so perhaps it's by them. They also made some big pieces, particularly Luciano Gaspari, but they were usually signed.

Looks more like gold leaf than powder, another possibility for maker is Seguso Vetri D'Arte - again they produced some designs with dense arrangements of bubbles like yours.

A couple of questions - is there much wear on the base and are there two layers of bubbles or is the second layer a reflection of the first?

I agree it's definitely leaf not powders.

Thank you all for your help so far!

I don't have the item at hand, sorry. A friend of mine got it after her grandmother in early 90's. She guesses it could be from the 80s but no exact information available. As far as I remember there are layers of the bubbles - have to go there to take pictures myself and see closely.
