
Signatures can be a nightmare to photograph. It helps to rub a bit of talcum powder over the marks with your thumb, to bring them up, and photographing things with a plain background helps enormously. A sheet of paper, a white sheet, pillowcase or tablecloth. Just something plain. Just like you've done with the plain blue in the first pic which shows the sculpture off really well.

No talcum powder? Cinnamon, cocoa or even flour or cornflour.
