Do you think that this is a whitefriars bark vase in ruby? your learned opinions would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

What's the base like?

Just an opinion, but I'd say probably not. It doesn't look chunky enough in the textures and the colour doesn't look right. Also has  that slight waxy surface appearance. I'd say probably Japanese, but the W/Friars on here will be able to give you confirmation either way.

Japanese I believe: https://www.20thcenturyglass.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=275_284&products_id=5265

There is another same colour as yours if you look under Japanese glass on Wayne's site.

Thanks for your replies and opinions, from these advices it does seem to be a Japanese Tajima vase. I was doubtful as the base did not really look quite right for Whitefriars.  With your help I am slowly learning and I now know what this vase really is.
Again many thanks for your help really appreciated.

Regards Mick
