Sowerby Pint Glass Registered 1872.
« on: May 20, 2021, 01:44:59 PM »
The 1868-83 registration lozenge on this glass is small and difficult to read but I think it is; 12th. of G/February, I/ 1872, in a batch of 6. This relates to the Sowerby registration 260404. It has alternate panels and a star base, is a full pint glass and is in perfect condition. I haven't managed to find it in a catalogue yet.

Thanks bat20, I love it, I found it in a charity shop and the registration lozenge is always a huge bonus  ;D. I'm hoping it's quite an unusual one, and it will go in my beer glass collection

There are several pieces in the 1874 catalogue with the same pattern, particularly the pickle jar on P.55, apparently it says "Obsc. and Plain" ( obscure/frosted and clear) underneath. Here's a website link.

Here is a matching sugar that my folks used have. I think it’s one of the first registered designs by Sowerby.

Thanks Mike, I can't view the item in your link, did you use the url at the top of the page not the one at the bottom, I've made the same mistake. As you say it was part of Sowerby's only second registration, in a parcel of six, so perhaps my glass was in there too.
