Okay, we are making progress. Found the box to my Caithness vase (remarkably undamaged from the flood of '05   ) and will borrow my sister's camera to take pictures of vase and box this weekend. Hope you get lots more.  8)

Hi Frank,

the new layout is a big improvement on the old and will definately make it easier to navigate.  :)

The decanter on the site should read; Morven - designed by Domhnall O'broin c.1965 - colour is Peat.

I can't say for certain as yet, but the Morven?? goblets may actually be from the Dunnet range c.1967 and designed by Charles Orr.  This is a shakey attribution to say the least and arrived at soley from mention of the 'wide stemmed wine glasses', in 20th Century Factory Glass by Lesley Jackson.  The Morven range is shown on the same page but no pictures of the Dunnet range unfortunately. :?

I'll get back if I do find out for certain.

Thanks for all the hard work again,
Pete

Thanks Pete, I had looked there. This is one of the problems with the glassware being so poorly documented, it will need someone to spend time with the archives I suppose.

The difficulties are compounded when good sources give conflicting accounts. For example in my article on Caithness jewellery it is stated:

Quote
Colin Terris designed a range of brooches and pendants inspired by traditional Scottish design and hired Lucia Polanski as a jewellery designer; she produced the rings, earrings and cufflinks designs.

On the Colin Terris website:

Quote
Lucia joined Caithness in 1970, and designed a Ring Collection which was very popular. Colin Terris concentrated on designing Pendants, Brooches, and Cufflinks

My information came from Colin Terris himself :? and was contained in old presentations written by him that pre-dated his web-site.

I need to track down Lucia Polanski.

Frank, finally have my pictures ready. You already have a vase similar (barrel shaped thistle), but mine has different colours. I also have box details.

I'm going to try to upload them to this message, but first some details.

The vase is 20cm (7-3/4 inches) high. The mouth has a diameter of 23-1/2 cm (9-1/2 inches) and has a diameter of 31 cm (12-1/2 inches) at its widest spot. The colours of the swirl are mostly blue with a bit of green at one side.

On the bottom of the box it says 2/96 (I'm thinking its the month and year of manufacture). We received it as a gift (summer of 1999) so we have no idea of the cost.

Here are the URL's. I've put them in the Ysart gallery for lack of any better place, but I am sure you are able to deal with the moving.
