Topic: Webb Sunshine Amber Glasses.

This is a lovely pair of Webb Old English Bullseye pattern port/sherry glasses in Sunshine Amber uranium. Approx. 3 1/2" tall, the pontils appear to have just been smoothed, not ground, and have slight swirl marks. One has an acid-etched circular "Made in England Webb" mark, used from 1935-49.

Very nice, have quite a range in this pattern and picked up a set of five of these today

agree they're very appealing, and a v.g. find, well done.     The colour is good and rich -  I've a desert dish and finger bowl (attached) in probably the same colourway and pattern and they glow well too.             I could be wrong, but as for the pontil area on these glasses, I'd suggest that the flat, recessed and rather hidden feature is a machine finished job - similar to my desert dish - though my finger bowl is a proper ground/polished depression.       We must go out and look for the decanter and glasses in this pattern colour.          Were these glasses a charity shop find?

I got them in a well known local antiques arcade and at £20 for the pair I think I did OK. I think the pontils were probably spun smooth by hand or possibly, as you say, on a machine.

thanks for showing Keith, you have some stunning glass  -  we crown you 'collector of the month and King of the Bull's Eyes'  -   it's the modesty of the word 'few' that we like             This pattern seems to have been popular in its day, though the better versions in Sunshine Amber not so easy to find now.

Lucky you Keith! The plain amber pieces don't seem to fetch much money. I'll be looking for some more Sunshine Amber though  .
