Admittedly I'm clutching at straws here, but in the Salviati book 'Confections in Glass 1855-1914' there are three chalcedony pieces and one of them has a foot that is very similar to my lamp , the smallest piece - it is id'd as Salviati.  I just wondered whether this might bring me closer to an id, as I've failed to find anything to match this lamp in any way really.  I've not managed to find a single piece with a foot or shape like it until I happened upon that Salviati vase today.

I found one further piece that to my eye has the most similarities which is a pale blue lamp by Seguso it says

I've had the lamp rewired with gold wire and it has a white silk lampshade on and looks wonderful now.  Each time I look at it I think of Liz Taylor lol.
Thanks for looking and any further thoughts very much appreciated.

I think I've found a match for the decor, both the correct colour purple and the gold, in a different type of piece.  It's a piece by AVEM.

The devil's advocate asks how Svazzo knows it's AVEM

Hi Christine
In a previous listing for that piece, it said
'I have owned virtually the same piece before with an Avem label, and there was 1 recently listed here on Ebay with label as well.'
That listing was ended because of an error in the listing.
I'm  hoping that since then, with the change in the listing, that a firm id has been found.

Having searched for this colour for a long time (I've just realised it's been three years - really? it doesn't feel that long but I've seen a LOT of purplish Murano pieces)  that is, as far as my eye can tell, a definite colour match.  Whereas all the others I've found have been slightly too blue or slightly too pink or something just not a match with them, again as far as my eye can tell.  So I think it's from the same maker, if it is AVEM.

Thank you JP :)  I've not been able to find a match for that label, but I suppose if it is a retail label then that might be why.

I'm adding a couple of extra pictures which I hope show how the cord hole has been made and also a bit more of the effect of the gold leaf on the base in the hope this might help id the maker one day.

The base is beautifully polished flat and has now been moved around a lot on a polished wood table so the label is a little more  worn I think.

It appears to be lavender opaline, rolled in gold leaf then cased in clear.

more photos

It's incredibly difficult to photograph the foil as it is so  fine and minute.

This is by Tomaso Buzzi.

If it helps in some way, the gold foil or leaf effect looks like this on my lampbase.  However the lamp is tall and slim so there is not the base width to show much effect of how the foil is laid on really.  But it does look very similar to this example .

These say they are Barbini - I came across them searching for something else:

Still love the lamp. I'm so glad I bought it. But it would be nice to know who made it :)
