Have i bought my first piece of Bimini glass?
« on: September 26, 2021, 06:13:05 PM »
Not my normal field of collecting but these caught my eye today.
The detail in the stem figures seem to be of a good standard.
Any help appreciated.
Tim

there is an e-book by Angela Bowey and Raymond Berger which discusses Lampl and his work - this won't necessarily verify that yours are or aren't, but might help - alternatively, it might be possible to contact Raymond Berger, though no idea as to his whereabouts.           We don't seem to get this stuff on the Board on anything like a regular basis.
My own initial opinion is that the joins between stem and animals are perhaps slightly unimaginative - lack of knops and finesse  -  but that is just a thought based on one picture in Hajdamach and a complete lack of knowledge of Bimini.
Might be an idea if you're able to add the height of these pieces.             Sorry this is unhelpful.

Thanks for the reply Paul, none of your observations are unhelpful.
I take your point about the elephant stems.
After a look around on the net there are a few of the mermaid type for sale described as Bimini.
Other opaque stemmed glasses described as Bimini have a different bowl shape.
My three glasses have the same bowl shape and similar decoration.
The glasses are 88mm high and 58mm at the top of the bowl.
