"Murano" can cover a lot. Historically (going back to the middle ages) it's an island on which the glassmakers were basically confined.
It kept the risk of fire away from the city, but also kept the glassmakers prisoner. They guarded the secrets of making it so highly that anybody letting information out was killed.
But there are a lot of different makers on the island, and it is now so famous that there is a part of China now called Murano so they can say glass is made there.
And with fame comes the now attendant copies, even glass sold on the island to tourists is imported.
You have to be very careful to try to find the true great masters and their work.
Your piece would be by one of them, if it is genuine Murano.
America is where Studio Glass was born. I wouldn't rule it out yet.
