Acid etched mark or scuff !??
« on: October 19, 2021, 11:53:59 AM »
Hi,I picked this up cheaply mainly because of the scuff/stamp ?and handle shape , it’s mould blown with a lot of wear from age or use ,with a off centre polished pontil. It’s probably continental and first half of the 20th century??..anyone recognise the scuff ?😀

I don't recognise the scuff, and it may be a coincidence, but the flower motif on the handle is similar to my Brockwitz basket which is shown in the 1936 catalogue. It has a crack probably from when the hot handle was applied. I don't know if Brockwitz made any mould blown pieces like your jug.

Scuf is new to me, what do you mean by it, is it a recognised term in glass making?

Could the signature be Biot?

John
