Dutch (?) pressed glass bowl Clog Dancer decoration
« on: January 08, 2012, 06:19:05 PM »
I thought this was unusual and it looked kind-of Swedish until I noticed the clogs (do they wear clogs in Scandinavia?). But then of vourse my mind started to think it might be Dutch.

Can anyone help me ID it?

Thanks in advance.

We've had this one before on board, and it is definitely NOT Dutch. I suggested Breton but I do not know if a positive attribution was ever achieved. I still think French.

Thanks. Looks like it's been a conundrum for a while!

Just googled 'breton national costume' and 'breton clogs' and Ivo does seem to have a sideline in folk-costumery expertise!

Where are the French glass experts? Can a MOD change the title question from Dutch to Breton/French? to see if we can get a final answer?

Try and google quimper pottery - the traditional breton ware decorated with traditional dress - and you see how this is a glass version of the same. It is pressed so think Arques or of duralex...
